| :: Oromëan Political Standings |
Obviously, all of this is subject to change. It’s still a little early to be making and breaking alliances, but it’s never too early to state our clan’s values.
Our primary concern is the safety of our grove. While we may trust or distrust a race as a whole, in the end our only concern is that our woods are unharmed. As such, any alliance that enters our forest with malicious intent can consider itself our sworn enemy.
Here is a summary of our attitudes toward the other races:
- Mirdain: We hold to the underlying belief that, as Mirdain, we are – at least in certain regards – naturally superior to the other races. Therefore, we have some misgivings about elves outside the Oromëa, but generally we trust any Mirdain who doesn’t give us reason to think otherwise.
- Humans: The historical relationship of Men and Elves is regrettably frought with betrayal. Humans have proven time and again that no precedent is sacred. There will be some humans who befriend us, but they will be few in number. There may even, eventually, be one or two human members of the Oromëa, but they will be rare indeed.
- Dwarves: Dwarves and Elves have long been estranged, owing to an ancient blood feud. It is unlikely either side will ever fully trust the other, though it is our sincere hope that we might both recognize the worth of an alliance in the face of the present onslaught of evil races.
- Mahirim: The Mahirim are an anomaly, in that they are in many ways far closer to us than they are to any other race of Agon. They are more closely bound to nature even than the Mirdain themselves. Yet, they are driven by an unseen force that pits them against us. Any Mahir may assume our neutrality, unless we are provoked to action.
- Alfar: The blackest enmity lies between Mirdain and Alfar. As minions of their dark thief-King, all Alfar found above the surface of their caves are to be put to death. Until such time as the Crown of our Mother has been returned, and Melek’s debt paid tenfold, the Alfar shall bear our wrath, and remained entombed in their festering graves.
- Orcs: The Orc is our sworn enemy. It is our affirmed goal to drive them even from the swamp they now hold as hostage, that it might be allowed to blossom into the forest glade it once was.
